On Tuesday 22 July at the Wales Federation Young Farmers' Club Centre at the Royal Welsh Showground, the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol will launch a new resource 'Meat Production' to support learners in further education colleges and apprentices studying or interested in Agriculture.
The resource, a website on lamb and beef production, was commissioned in response to demand from staff and learners at further education colleges for a new resource for learners studying level 2 and 3 Agriculture qualifications and beyond.
Lora Jên Pritchard, Agriculture learner at Coleg Glynllifon said:
"The resource is fantastic because it conveys information in an interesting, visual, and fun way.
"By reading, watching and listening to meat producers from different companies sharing their experiences and expertise, you can learn a lot about the industry.
"There are over 65 lessons on the resource, so there's plenty to keep you interested, and my favourite part is the activities at the end that are challenging."
The resource is divided into 14 units with 7 units focusing on lamb production and 7 units on beef production, and includes one of the stars of the TV series 'Food Business', Matthew Rees, Butcher of Albert Rees, Carmarthen.
Agriculture is one of the Coleg Cymraeg's priority areas, and the Coleg has invested heavily in further education provision and apprenticeships which has led to the creation of 10 jobs in the field of Land Studies.
The resource will be launched at The Wales Federation of Young Farmers' Clubs Rural Affairs Brunch event at 9am by Meri Huws, Member of the Board of Directors of the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol and Chair of the Coleg's Post-16 Strategic Board.
Meri Huws said:
"The Coleg is delighted to launch a Meat Production resource at the Royal Welsh Show this year.
"The bilingual resource is great and useful for everyone. The Coleg has been supporting Welsh-medium and bilingual provision in the field of Agriculture in the further education and apprenticeship sector for several years now, and it's great to see the provision increasing and the relationship with the colleges deepening."
The resource has been authored by Sara Roberts, lecturer in Agriculture at Coleg Sir Gar, and produced by Atebol.
The Meat Production website can be accessed through the Coleg Resource Portal.
