As Welsh-language Ambassadors we help out with open days. We talk to students to see if they have come from a Welsh-medium school and want to continue working in Welsh, and explain that they have the option of doing so.
I feel that since becoming an Ambassador I have been socialising with people, I have gained confidence, and feel more comfortable talking to new people.
As a result of taking part in open days and events to celebrate important dates in the Welsh calendar, I feel that I have developed a good relationship with Bridgend College staff, and that I have also developed a good friendship with Ffion, the other Ambassador on the Bridgend campus. We work well together, and I know that if I'm struggling with anything, I can go to her or a member of staff for advice, because they are all very supportive.
I believe that it is important for Welsh-language Ambassadors to attend open days because they can support and talk to prospective students, and reassure them that they can continue to speak Welsh at college, celebrate their identity, and not lose their skills.
I helped out with the Welsh-language Week at the College. I assisted with the treasure hunts across campus, helping students if they didn't understand the clues in the treasure hunt, and making sure they didn't get lost. It is important to hold events like this because it gives students the opportunity to interact with each other and learn about different things, such as the Welsh language. My friend took part in the treasure hunt and said that she enjoyed it, and would be interested in doing something similar again.
I study performing arts, and on my course I have the option to read lines in Welsh and do my written and oral work in Welsh. We performed Cinderella, and our Welsh Language Support Officer, Sallyann, helped me say my lines in Welsh. She is very supportive, and translated my lines making them easier to understand and remember. On our course, only two of us speak Welsh fluently.
After college I would like to go to university to study performing arts or dance. After university I would like to get a job either as a dancer or a dance teacher.
