Hannah's Blog – Tafwyl 2024
It's the festival season again – my favourite time of the year! Although I love attending a variety of Welsh festivals during the summer, Tafwyl is my favourite!
There is something special about such a vibrant festival being held in the city I grew up in, and being witness to its development over so many years. I've attended Tafwyl since the early days at the Black Pig pub, and this year was certainly the busiest I've seen!
However, I had a completely different experience at Tafwyl this year as I worked as part of the Llais y Maes team with Cardiff University's school of journalism. I created digital content of the festival, which was an extremely valuable experience. I had the opportunity to report on a variety of stories and to interview loads of interesting people, including Eden – Tafwyl's 'headliners' on Sunday night!
Following the long process of planning, presenting, interviewing and editing, it was extremely rewarding to see the final items come together and published on social media. I have benefited so much from the experience, and I am extremely grateful to JOMEC Cymraeg for the opportunity!
Although Llais y Maes was a new experience for me at Tafwyl this year, some things never change – such the socializing! It was lovely to catch up with family and friends throughout the weekend. Good company, good music, good food! What more do you need in life? And of course, the socializing continued after Tafwyl, with the weekend finishing at Clwb Ifor Bach!
It's hard to believe that Tafwyl has come and gone for another year. But, in the meantime, I'm looking forward to other Welsh festivals during the summer, especially the National Eisteddfod in Pontypridd!
