I was a school ambassador for the Coleg Cymraeg at Ysgol Rhydywaun in 2023-24. I had a variety of experiences so here are a couple of examples:
Tafwyl
Tafwyl was an amazing weekend and the experience of working on the Coleg stand added to that without a doubt! Even though I still find glitter on me now, I loved seeing the children's happiness with the glitter on their faces. I had the opportunity to interview Gwilym himself and Anniben, so a very memorable experience!
Takeover
Takeovers are a convenient way to share your experiences on social media whilst taking over the Coleg Cymraeg account for the day. It was nice to answer everyone's questions and share my experience visiting Swansea University.
Blogs
This is an opportunity to write and raise awareness about topics you are passionate about. For example, I enjoyed writing about literature and its benefits but if you're not sure the Coleg share many tips to help you decide on a topic like my other blog, mental health tips.
Videos
You could create videos promoting the language or opportunities available. You have creative freedom and personally I enjoyed editing the videos to make it more entertaining to watch. My favorite video I produced was raising awareness of the Welsh language in Florida, USA as Americans guessed the meaning of Welsh words. I also made a TikTok video with Mari, another ambassador at my school for the Coleg scholarship, tips to go to university and much more!
Mari and I also made the Coleg notice board at our school. You could also work with the Coleg as they visit your school and share your experience with your classmates.
So as you can see there is so much diversity as a school ambassador!
