Date: Saturday, 5 July 2025
Location: The National Library of Wales, Aberystwyth
A conference on LGBTQ+ representation and identities and the Welsh Canon. It will include creative presentations or performance that go beyond traditional academic practice. The Conference will be open to a wider audience and will be in Welsh only.
The Project
'Testunau'r Enfys' (Rainbow Texts) is a collaborative project that explores LGBTQ+ representation and identities and intersectionality in the Welsh-language literary canon, paying attention to a range of historical and contemporary literary texts. As part of the project a Workshop was held on the theme in September 2024.
The aim of the conference is to stimulate new research and support and mentor the contributors of the Workshop to develop their academic or creative contributions for the Conference. Beyond the two activities, the project team will work with contributors to develop the output of the Workshop which was held in September 2024 and the Conference in July 2025 into an academic and creative Welsh medium resource.
The project team wishes to develop the field by fostering new and experienced researchers.
