This workshop run by Dyddgu Morgan-Hywel will benefit researchers who are stepping into the world of teaching for the first time, and want to teach confidently and innovatively while developing in the classroom and online.

WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES
- Professional knowledge: develop your knowledge of the subject you will learn;
- Methodological information - presentation of the theory that underpins learning and teaching practices (learning styles)
- Specific group dynamics skills - group dynamics, strategies for different situations.
CONTENT
Learning, teaching and assessment
- Learning the key skills related to planning teaching work;
- Learning the variety of questioning skills that facilitate the teaching process.
- Become familiar with a variety of teaching methods with small groups;
- Come to understand some key principles related to assessment.
Technology Integration. An introduction to digital tools and software to engage students and improve the learning experience including:
- Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Education
- Virtual Reality (VR) in Education
- Language Technology
Teaching Inclusion:
- Introducing inclusive teaching skills
- Diverse learning needs and student needs
- Promote an inclusive environment.
Pastoral care – Personal tutor / student health and wellbeing in Education
- Understand the personal qualities of a good tutor;
- Understanding students' perceptions of a good tutor;
- Understand the key communication skills a good tutor needs.
BIOGRAPHY
Dyddgu studied the 'BSc (Hons) Secondary Education Design and Technology leading to Qualified Teacher Status' course at Bangor University, and graduated with a first class degree. She was a lecturer and subject tutor for A Level Design and Technology at Coleg Meirion Dwyfor, a Design and Technology teacher at Ysgol Gyfun Rhydywaun, and a senior lecturer in Education at Cardiff Metropolitan University for ten years. Dyddgu is now a Commissioning and Quality Manager with Adnodd, a Welsh Government arm's length company that has a strategic overview of the landscape of bilingual resources to support the Curriculum for Wales.
The workshop is free and open to Welsh-speaking postgraduate students and early career researchers, whatever your subject, wherever you study, and whoever funds you. Lunch will be provided and travel expenses are reimbursed.
