Women's Sports Communication Conference

A Welsh language conference for media students, journalism and those interested in sports communication. 6th form pupils who are interested in the field are also welcome.

Do you know the best way to communicate with players and athletes? What is the possible career path to being a sports commentator or producer? How do we ensure that women's sport gets attention?

In this conference we will try to answer some of these questions and hear about the Welsh team's campaign in preparation for this year's Commonwealth Games.

Timetable:

10.00 - 10.15: Arrival and registration

10.15 - 11.00: Session 1 - interview with sports presenter Sioned Dafydd

11.00 - 11.30: Cup and conversation

11.30 - 12.15: Session 2 – panel with Sioned, the sports presenter and producer Gabriella Jukes, and members of Team Wales for the 2026 Commonwealth Games

12.15: Lunch - everyone to bring a packed lunch or eat on campus

13.00 Workshops - attendees will go to the 3 workshops A, B, and C. Each workshop lasts 30 minutes. After attending one workshop the group will move to the next workshop and then the third.

       * Workshop - 'Sut i sylwebu' (how to commentate) with Sgorio and Dylan Ebenezer

       * Workshop - 'TikTok Chwaraeon' (Sports TikTok) with Gabriella

       * Workshop - 'Press Conference' with Team Wales 

14.45: Closing session

15.00: Finish 

 

Transport:

Students will be reimbursed for their train journeys from Cardiff. Schools can claim £50 as a contribution for minibus fuel or transport to transport a group of pupils from the school - contact Siôn Jobbins below for details.
