Welcome to the Gwreiddio Scheme
This is our scheme for everyone who works in the further education and apprenticeships sector. By joining this scheme, you will become part of an enthusiastic community of staff who work bilingually across the sector. You will receive the latest information about new resources and training opportunities, and you can network with staff across the country.
At the end of the academic year, we will be arranging a conference for scheme members to come together to share good practice, and to give awards to acknowledge the contribution of individuals for their work in the sector. You are welcome to nominate colleagues for these awards, when we invite nominations at the end of January 2024:
- Innovative educator award
- Award for special contribution
- Award for enriching the experience of learners/apprentices
The scheme is no extra work for you. The idea is that this is a way for you to receive the latest information from us, and to hear about relevant training opportunities.
Gwreiddio Scheme
Register for the scheme today. It doesn’t matter how much Welsh you speak. We want everyone to feel confident using Welsh at work.
Come to learn Welsh
Do you work in a further education college in Wales and want to develop your Welsh-language skills? The Work Welsh programme is suitable for everyone, with lessons and tutors on hand to support new learners.
If this scheme could be useful to you, look for more information about the Coleg Cymraeg in your college.
Go for it!
Incorporating the Welsh language
We want to ensure that there are enough staff who can speak bilingually to learners in colleges across the country. There are many ways in which we can help you to become more confident when using Welsh in the classroom.
One session that could be of help is the session on identifying bilingual resources, which will give you more confidence to support learners in your class who speak Welsh.
Throughout the academic year, we will be hosting webinars for staff to come together to share good practice. These sessions will provide you with an opportunity to develop your bilingual teaching skills.
We want everyone to feel confident using however much Welsh you have in your work. Email post16@colegcymraeg.ac.uk for more information.
Sgiliaith is the name of the company that runs the National Staff Development Programme on behalf of the Coleg. They can work with you to support you to use more Welsh in the classroom.
