I'm Sonny. I am in my second year at Cardiff and Vale College, studying Performance Music, and hope to finish my course in the summer.
I attended a Welsh-medium primary and secondary school, so I learnt to speak Welsh in my youth. The Welsh language comes naturally to me.
It is refreshing to study in an atmosphere where speaking Welsh is supported, rather than being punished for speaking English which leads to obvious hypocrisy.
I enjoy attending live music performances. I watch many Welsh-language bands performing in venues such as Clwb, and at festivals such as Tafwyl. Some of my favourite bands that I've seen include Hyll, Mellt, Papur Wal, Los Blancos and SYBS. I also spend a lot of my time following and supporting my club, Cardiff City, and my country at football games. I attend every home game with my friends from school, and also travel across England to support them when we play away games.
Because of my passion for music, I taught myself how to play guitar during 2020. Since then, I have persevered and decided to study performance music at college, as I mentioned earlier. I have been playing for over three years by now and consider playing guitar as one of my hobbies.
A lot of the inspiration comes from my family and the fact that many of them have decided to be musicians. I hope one day to be able to follow my dreams and become a professional musician.
