Hi! My name is Sorrel. I am 17 years old and live in South Wales. I'm studying Level 3 Musical Theatre at Coleg Gwent. I have been speaking Welsh and studying through the medium of Welsh since I started school, and when I arrived at college, I was afraid of losing my Welsh language abilities like so many people I know who have entirely forgotten how to speak Welsh because they went to an English-medium college. When I found out that there was a way for me to continue speaking Welsh at college I was so happy.
Since becoming an ambassador I have had many experiences of using Welsh in class and also promoting the Welsh language around the college. I've also had many excellent experiences, such as singing in Welsh at college. I believe that the Welsh language has been a great help to me, especially during my time at college, as it has allowed me to find different ways of expressing myself, discover new ways of thinking creatively, and see how more things can be more accessible to people within the college who speak Welsh.
