Nominations are now open for the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol Awards 2023! The annual awards celebrate the achievements of the brightest students, learners, apprentices and lecturers who have contributed significantly towards Welsh medium and bilingual post-compulsory education over the past year.

The awards are across different fields and there is an opportunity for students, lecturers, and employers (in the apprenticeship field) to nominate individuals for the variety of categories.

NEW AWARDS LAUNCHED

In addition to the usual categories, for the first time this year, there is an opportunity to nominate for brand new categories for individuals from the further education and apprenticeship sector. The New Talent Award is in memory of Gareth Pierce, the former Chair of the Coleg Cymraeg who passed away suddenly during Summer 2021.

This award is presented to a Welsh apprentice (or learner) who has demonstrated a special talent. Employers or apprenticeship providers should nominate a talented apprentice who has excelled in the workplace and has a bright future ahead of them. This can include contribution the apprentice has made in the workplace, achievements at work to date, or progress the apprentice has made in their career to date.  All apprentices who speak Welsh, fluent or are learners are eligible to be nominated for this award.

In addition, three new additional awards will be introduced in the Further Education and Apprenticeship sector this year. The Innovative Educator Award recognises the contribution of a tutor, practitioner or assessor who delivers Welsh language education in innovative ways.

Award for Outstanding Contribution is awarded to a member of the management team at a further education college or an individual within an apprenticeship provider for influencing the development of Welsh language provision within their organisation. This award is open to all regardless of Welsh language skills.

The Award for Enriching the Learner/Apprentice Experience recognises the contribution of a member of staff in the sector to increase the use of Welsh among learners/apprentices in various less formal (extracurricular, socially and class-based) situations.
