Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol and Mudiad Meithrin have come together to collaborate on an environmental review of both organisations with a view to drawing up an action plan to reduce their carbon footprint.
Green Business Center has been appointed to undertake the work and the environmental review will include: environmental policy review and health check; an action plan based on the results of the review; preparing new environmental policies and procedures; calculate the carbon footprint value for both organisations; and provide relevant training for the workforce.
Gwenllian Lansdown Davies, Mudiad Meithrin’s Chief Executive said: “We know that we play an important role in influencing the future citizens of Wales with new opportunities provided by the curriculum and its emphasis on protecting and promoting ‘cynefin’. Mudiad Meithrin therefore takes pride in knowing that we’re also scrutinising our own action to assess the changes that are required to improve our carbon footprint.”
Dr Ioan Matthews, Chief Executive of the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol said: "The need to protect the environment is more important than ever and every organisation has a responsibility to ensure that their activities are carried out in a sustainable way that ensures environmental, economic and social well-being for current and future audiences.
“Appointing a company with environmental and sustainability expertise to undertake this work enables us to understand more about our organisations contribution to global warming and put in place an action plan to reduce our organisation's impact on this."
