The Coleg Cymraeg is proud to sponsor  the Triban Festival once again this year, as well as offering a full week of events and activities  at the Urdd Eisteddfod from 27 May to 1 June (stand 89-91).

Main events on the Coleg stand:

One of the events taking place on the Coleg stand this year will be discussion panel to launch a new resource 'Sbia ar Hwn' which reveals the secrets of social media. The resource, created by Cardiff University's Jomec Welsh School of Journalism and funded through the Small Grants Scheme from the Coleg, includes information from experts on how to create effective content on social media.

Jess Clayton, an ITV and S4C journalist who has worked on programmes such as, 'Hansh Dim Sbin', and has contributed to the resource, said:

"The first sentence is the most important when creating content on social media. It's important to be simple, accurate but also that people understand you immediately."

Alun Jones, from digital marketing company Libera, who also appears in the resource, added:

"Welsh speakers want to see good content, not Welsh content. If the content is good, and happens to be in Welsh, they wouldn't mind."

The discussion panel will be chaired by Siân Morgan Lloyd of Jomec and S4C, and will take place at 10:00, Thursday, May 30 in the Coleg stand. The resource is available to download for free on the Coleg Resource Portal.

Another discussion panel will be held at 12:30 Friday 31 May, 'Pam Cymraeg?' with Bwncath's lead vocalist, Elidyr Glyn, former Urdd president Mared Edwards, and Welsh student Catrin Alaw Jones, about living, studying, and working through the medium of Welsh.

Following the success of a recent collaborative tour between the Coleg and Triban Festival to local schools promoting the Urdd Eisteddfod and the benefits of studying Welsh A Level and pursuing a degree in Welsh, they will be bringing the conversation and music to the Eisteddfod.  There will be an opportunity after the discussion to enjoy an acoustic set by Elidyr before Bwncath performs on the Friday night at the Triban Festival.

There will be a variety of activities, workshops, and other events  throughout the week to appeal to all ages, and people will be most welcome to drop into the College stand.

"Amazing" experiences for College ambassadors at Triban Festival

Coleg Cymraeg ambassadors will once again have a weekend of unforgettable experiences as the Coleg sponsors the Triban Festival following last year's success.

The festival, which takes place on Friday 31 May and Saturday 1 June at the Eisteddfod ground, showcases the best of contemporary Welsh music and culture.

A group of Coleg School and University Ambassadors will have the task of managing the Coleg and Urdd Instagram accounts, and will have the opportunity to interview some of Wales' biggest bands backstage, as well as introduce them on stage.

One of the University Ambassadors taking part will be Efa Maher, who is studying Maths at Cardiff University. Efa applied to become a University Ambassador this year after having "unforgettable" experiences last year as a School Ambassador. She said:

"My favourite experience from last year's festival was introducing Tara Bandito, Gwylim and especially Dafydd Iwan to the Triban stage to close the festival. I developed my presentation, interviewing and confidence skills in general by communicating with a variety of people. From discussing ideas with my fellow ambassadors, working collaboratively with the Urdd and Coleg Cymraeg and of course public speaking. It was an unforgettable experience and I'm looking forward to being part of the team again this year."

Elin Williams, the Coleg Marketing Manager, said:

"We are looking forward to being at the centre of the buzz on the field once again this year hosting events and  promoting the opportunities and benefits for young people when continuing to study through the medium of Welsh after leaving school. It is also a pleasure to sponsor the Triban Festival again this year which will give our ambassadors opportunities to gain valuable experiences including creating content for Coleg Cymraeg and Urdd social media followers."
