What is the Framework?
The Language Competency Framework for Education Practitioners is a way of showing everything that teachers and teaching assistants can do in Welsh in the classroom at every language skill level.
Here are some examples:
- Entry Level: I can write simple sentences every day, which are relevant to the school context e.g. instructions, questions, orders, simple feedback
- Advanced Level: I can understand the majority of conversations, even about unfamiliar and specialist subjects e.g. in a formal context
How is the Framework utilised?
The Framework helps to measure and indicate progress in terms of the language skills of teachers, teaching assistants and those who are training to be members of the education workforce.
Those who are following Initial Teacher Training programmes record evidence against the Framework in their Professional Learning Passport.
The Role of Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol
Coleg Cymraeg is working to ensure that the Framework is used in the same way across all the partnerships that offer Initial Teacher Training programmes. We implement a moderation process every year to ensure consistency.
