PGCE PcET Mentoring Scheme 23-24
A scheme for Welsh speakers who are studying on the PGCE PcET course from September 2023.
Do you want to know more about using the Welsh language in the post-compulsory sector in Wales and benefit from an experienced mentor?
We are offering students who are studying a PGCE PcET course at an university, who are studying any subject, who speak Welsh, and who want to know more about using the Welsh language in the post-compulsory sector an opportunity to take part in the PGCE PcET Mentoring Scheme 23-24.
Students eligible for the scheme may also be eligible for a payment of £1,000 from the Welsh Government!
What will be included?
- 6 mentoring sessions (one hour each) with a lecturer at a further education college who can share experiences with you
The mentoring sessions will be an opportunity for you to understand more about how lecturers use the Welsh language in their everyday work and the experience of being a lecturer in the post-compulsory sector in Wales. It will also be an opportunity to ask questions to someone who has been through the process recently and to get honest answers.
The benefits
Taking part in the scheme will help you to:
- add skills and experiences to your CV
- build confidence in your Welsh skills
- show potential employers that you are happy to use your Welsh skills
- understand more about the use of the Welsh language in the sector and have the opportunity to ask important questions
