The Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol has appointed Rhys Evans, Head of Corporate Affairs and Public Policy, BBC Wales, as a new member of its Board of Directors. Rhys will begin in his new role this month and his membership will be for a period of four years.
Rhys has spent more than a quarter of a century at BBC Wales as a Journalist, Deputy Head of News and more recently as Head of Corproate Affairs and Public Policy where he is responsible for leading on policy, strategy and external communications. Rhys has extensive experience of regulatory and governance matters and has been responsible for overseeing projects worth millions of pounds during his time at the corporation, including the project to digitise the BBC Wales archive as the corporation established its new broadcasting headquarters in the centre of the capital.
Rhys is currently on secondment as a Research Fellow at the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism, Oxford University, and is undertaking research in to the provision of news in multinational states.

Rhys brings with him extremely valuable skills and experience including in the fields of journalism and broadcasting as well as his management experience and his publishing and academic work. Rhys Evans added: "I’m delighted to have this opportunity to work for the benefit of post-16 learners in Wales and of Welsh medium education. As we emerge from the pandemic, securing education and training of the highest standard is more important than ever and the Welsh language is central to this.
