Dysgu’r Dyfodol: A mentoring and work experience scheme for university students

 

Do you want to share your expertise and experiences as a teacher?

We are looking for people like you to be mentors for university students in various subject areas who want to know more about a career as a teacher in Wales.

You will need to:

  • have completed your Induction period (NQT)
  • do 2 hours of online training after school on 30 March 2023/27 April 2023 (with a charge of £30 per hour*)
  • offer 3 mentoring sessions, one hour each during the summer term (with a charge of £30 per hour*)
  • do up to an hour of organisational and feedback work (with a charge of £30 per hour*)

The mentoring sessions will be an opportunity for students to gain a greater understanding about how to train to be a teacher, the experience of being a teacher in Wales, and what is available to early career teachers. It is intended to inspire students to take a step towards a career in teaching in Welsh education.

*The payments will contribute to your taxable income for the year

 

The advantages

Taking part in the scheme will help you to: 

  • demonstrate development against the Professional Standards for teachers
  • develop your Leadership Skills
  • show that you are willing to take extra responsibility e.g. CAD/TLR
  • earn £180
